My husband is getting me a dog for Valentines. He doesn't know that I know though. Yes, it was a dog I asked for about 4 or 5 years ago, but I have since gotten two dogs. I only do rescue dogs, and this is one he has bought, so I am not sure how I feel about this. I really have enough between 4 kids, 2 dogs, 1 hermit crab, working full time, and keeping up with everything around here. I told him for the last year that I did not EVER want to add another dog to this family. Two is plenty, and besides, Wendy my beagle/basset has issues getting along with other dogs anyway. It's a delicate mix getting our two to get along and this is all just driving me NUTS. Oh, did I mention it's a puppy. Unlike most women I don't like puppies or babies. I love dogs and I love kids, I just don't like them when they are little. I mean I like them in small increments. I recently baby sat for Andy's girlfriend, and it was my idea. Her little baby was great, but it was also nice to send him home after about 5 hours. If I could give birth to children when they were about 4 years old, I would have 12 of them by now. I really can not see any way out of this. If I tell him no I hurt his feelings. If I keep it, I'll be more nuts than I already am.......... Why can't men ever get it right? He could have made a donation to reecesrainbow and it would have made me so happy. P.S. if any of you women readers out there want to tell me how perfect your hubbies are, please don't lol.

  1. LOL Oh, and interesting time for a puppy at your house! I know you have lots of experience with DOGS, how much do you have with puppies? Have you potty trained one before? If not, or you need help, let me know. I have a whole page on my dog website about potty training.

  2. I suck at house breaking puppies. I'll have to crate train it. It's a yorkie poo so it will have a small bladder, and that it not fair that I am gone 8 hours a day :(

  3. Crate training is the fastest way to potty train no matter WHAT kind of dog you have. LOTS of studies done on that over the years. And even small dogs can go 8 hours, but that is the absolute MAX amount of time. Is Miri home before you? She could let the puppy out to potty.

  4. I’ll put my hand up with you and say I only had baby’s cause I knew they would grow lol. Give me a child any day. Ugh I had always been a dog lover, then 6 years ago I had another baby then another and our poor dog suffers
I really feel for you, I haven’t done puppy stage we picked out girl up at 8mths that was bad enough. She was trained to pee inside on a mat, because the young girl that had her was hiding her inside. She wasn’t aloud dogs in her unit. Now any chance 8years on she will come in to pee and poop
She’s a Shih Tzu but has to be an outside dog. When she goes there will be no more.
    Hugs

  5. I have shihtzu maltese mix and he has NEVER gotten a clue about where to pee. he runs off after cars or people. Im surprise he hasnt been killed on the road. he chases the road grader. and he drives my husband nuts with his peeing in inappropriate places. BUT he completely accepted Sophie and Ben from the first moment(which shocked me completely)and is so gentle with them. and they love him. Mocha my springer/aussie mix is a pup yet and she drives me nuts. I spent the entire day taking things out of her mouth. at least she finally gets where to go potty. Maybe your little pupper will be so cute you cant help but fall in love with it.
